What we do

We provide for the local needs of our members through an active tours program, two golf tournaments, a curling bonspiel, day hikes, bowling and workshops as well as other social activities. Our spring and fall luncheons are well attended and provide a place to keep in touch with former colleagues.

Our district Goodwill committee looks after the concerns of our more senior or ailing members who may be in need of a special visit or a greeting card to celebrate a special birthday.

During the year three newsletters are published and mailed. These keep you informed of changing political issues, pension matters or health care concerns as they happen.

In addition we publish two theatre tours newsletters, series A in January or early February and series B in June. Each tour includes, in addition to the performance, either lunch or dinner and all transportation. You must be quick in registering for these tours; the buses fill very quickly.

All members of District 13 are invited to join the executive. It’s suggested that you first attend an executive meeting to become familiar with the various committees and the business involved, then decide where your interests and talents may be best applied.

We are a friendly and tolerant bunch that enjoy a joke from time to time during executive meetings and at other times too. We are dedicated to working on behalf of retired teachers at the district level and in communicating their concerns to the provincial executive.

Nominees for the local executive are voted on at our annual meeting that is held just before the Spring Luncheon in May. All are welcome.
