Who can join?

Membership in RTO/ERO is available in two categories: Full and Associate.

Full Members
Retired teachers who meet one of the following criteria are eligible to become full members of RTO/ERO:

  • a retired teacher with a minimum of 15 years of credited service who opted for a commuted value transfer from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan following the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan rules in place at the time of commutation

  • a retired teacher who is receiving a pension from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund

  • a retired teacher who is receiving a pension from a teachers’ pension fund in a Canadian jurisdiction outside of Ontario.
